As a CSA share holder, you buy into the seasons harvest at the begginning of the growing season. This helps the farmer finance the early spring seeding/planting when intense input costs and physical labour are required to kick start the growing season. As a share holder, you agree to the risks the grower faces throughout the season, but you also share in the bounty when harvest are plenty. In return for your affordable investment, you receive a weekly harvest share, full of high quality, in season produce. This CSA system makes it possible for folks to enjoy the "field to table" experience, as well as creating a close relationship between the shareholder and local grower, where you learn where and how your food is grown.
